Flower Show

2023 marks the 25th anniversary of the Museum’s Flower Show! The event fills our galleries and studios with lush gardens, floral arrangements, a meandering exhibit of nature-themed visual art, live music, and environmental programming.  

The 2023 Flower Show theme is “Songs of Spring-Nature’s Music.”

  • Flower Show Benefit Preview: Wed., Mar. 22, 6pm-8pm.
  • Flower Show Event: Thurs., Mar. 23 – Sun., Mar. 26. Event hours are Thurs.- Sat.: Open from 9:30am -12:30pm & 1pm – 4pm (Note the 30-minute midday closing; guests can return after 1pm); Sun.: Open from 12pm – 4pm.

  • Tickets to the Benefit Preview will go on sale in Feb. 2023.
  • Admission tickets to the Flower Show event will be sold at the door.
  • Advance registration is required for select event attractions such as animal education & children’s programs. Reserve spots on the Museum’s site in Feb. 2023.

TWO FLOWER SHOW CALLS FOR ARTISTS

The Flower Show is one of the Museum’s most popular fundraising events.  Its exhibitions appear throughout the Museum and are typically seen by over 2,500 visitors.

 1. Exhibition of Nature-themed Artwork Call                                                

Open to all original visual expressions of the natural world: floral, landscape, underwater, weather, ecosystems, wildlife, extinct species, insects, etc.  All mediums can be submitted.

  • Each artist can submit up to 2 nature-themed pieces. This show is not juried, however only guideline compliant submissions will be accepted. Note that artwork will be exhibited on both levels of the Museum.
  • Fees: One submission: $20 for Museum members; $25 for non-members. Two submissions: $30 for mem; $35 for non-mem.  All fees are non-refundable.
  • Only work that has not been previously shown at the Attleboro Arts Museum at any time will be considered.
  • 2D & 3D work must weigh under 100 lbs. 
  • Wall-mounted work must be no larger than 30” x 30” (including the entire frame), securely framed or gallery wrapped, and ready to hang with a firm wire hanging system. Diptychs and triptychs can be no larger than 30” x 30” in their entirety, including the space between pieces (see image below). The widest point of 3D work cannot exceed 24” x 24”. No wet paint. There are no exceptions to these specifications. Thank you.

  • A printed Museum ID form must also be completed and attached to each piece.*

  • Work can be for sale.  Museum commission: members – 30%; non-members – 40%.
  • People’s Choice Cash Awards: “1st Place” ($150); “2nd Place” ($100); “3rd Place” ($75) will be virtually announced on the Museum’s website and social media after the Flower Show concludes.  In an effort to manage congestion, there will be no in-person award ceremony in 2023.

  • Pick up of exhibited work: Sun. March 26th from 4pm-5:30pm; Tues., March 28 and Wed., March 29 from 10am-4pm**

2. Magic Flute Floral Design Call                                

Use live and/or dried floral and plant materials to create a glorious, magic flute.  All interpretations are welcome!

  • Open to all floral-minded artists, garden club members, horticultural students, gardeners, flower arrangers, etc. 
  • All flutes must use a Museum-issued substrate and be handcrafted using predominantly natural, live, and or, dried materials that you provide.  Please supply a list of the materials used to create your flute. One entry per individual, finished size must not exceed (14”high x 10” wide x 4” deep). Flutes must be wall-mounted and have a sturdy hanging wire.
  • There is no entry fee for the Magic Flute exhibition, however all submissions are required to be refreshed as needed for the duration of the show (4 days).  All work must comply with these specifications.  No exceptions. Thank you.
  • All Magic Flutes will be showcased on the Flower Show’s lower level and will be judged for People’s Choice First, Second and Third Place Awards of Recognition.
  • Flutes can be for sale.  Museum commission: members-30%; non-members-40%.
  • Space is very limited. To participate, email office@attleboroartsmuseum.org or call 508-222-2644 x15 no later than Feb. 17th with your name and contact info.  A staff member will coordinate with you regarding the pick up of your flute substrate and the completion of your flute entry forms and materials list.

** After the date noted, a late fee of $5 per day, per piece will be charged–payable at late pick-up.

The Flower Show is a critical Museum fundraiser. Therefore, our standard free admission policy is not in place for this event. All attendees, including nature-themed exhibit and Magic Flute artists are kindly asked to pay the $3 event entry fee.  Your support is appreciated.
