Poetry Slam: Friday, May 18th

Poetry is in full swing at the Attleboro Arts Museum!

On May 18th, the Museum will host top-notch poetry slam teams in a lively competition. Listeners at the Museum that Friday will enjoy a short poetry open mic, then a high-energy poetry slam, with opportunities to perform in the open or judge the competition.

The Boston Poetry Slam has presented a free poetry slam in conjunction with the Attleboro Arts Museum since 2007. This year’s event will again welcome local participants to the open mic, then select some self-styled poetry experts (expert in their own opinion, of course) to judge the poetry slam.

Poetry slam, as many Museum-goers know by now, is an American tradition spanning three decades and combining poetry, storytelling, stand-up comedy, slapdash lyricism, and a sporting good time: poets perform their own original work to earn points from the self-styled expert judges selected from the audience.

  • Friday, May 19, 6:30 doors, 7:00 p.m. open mic, 7:45 poetry slam
  • Attleboro Arts Museum, 86 Park Street, Attleboro, MA
  • Free of charge.
  • This is an all-ages show; parents and chaperones are reminded that poetry slam is uncensored event and may contain some strong language, adult themes, and unfiltered ideas.
  • This event is generously sponsored by Castro Thresher and Oliveira.
