The Attleboro Arts Museum is currently offering three calls for artists:

  1. Flower Show 2012 (there two calls for the Flower Show)
  2. On the Threshold: 2012 National Juried Exhibition

Flower Show 2012: March 22-25, 2012

The Flower Show offers two exhibition opportunities for artists

A. Flower Show Art Exhibition

Open to all original visual expressions of the natural world: floral, landscapes, wildlife, etc. All mediums can be submitted.

(Note:  This 2012 Flower Show exhibition call for artists reflects format changes based on artist feedback.  These revisions will deliver greater value to artists while maintaining the Museum’s high exhibition standard.  We look forward to your participation!)

  • Each artist can submit up to two pieces. We guarantee that at least one submission from each artist will be selected for the exhibition.
  • Fees: One submission: $20 for museum members; $25 for non-members.  Two submissions: $30 for museum members; $35 for non-members.  All fees are non-refundable.
  • Only work that has not been previously shown at the Attleboro Arts Museum will be considered. Both 2D and 3D work must weigh under 100lbs.  2D work must be no larger than 36” x 36” and be securely framed or gallery wrapped and ready to hang. No clips or saw tooth hangers.
  • Work can be for sale. Museum commission: Members-30%; non-members-40%.
  • Six cash prizes will be awarded on March 25th at the Flower Show’s closing ceremony (approx 3pm). Flower Show Committee Awards: “Best in Show” ($125); “Award of Excellence” ($75); “Honorable Mention” ($50). People’s Choice Awards: “1st Place” ($125); “2nd Place” ($75); “3rd Place” ($50).

Key Dates     

  • Delivery of art: Sat, Feb 25,10am-1pm; Tues, Feb 28 & Wed, Feb 29, 10am-4pm
  • Notification of acceptance via email or telephone: By Thursday, March 8, by 8pm
  • Pick–up of unaccepted work: Fri, March 9 or Sat, March 10 from 10-4pm*
  • Exhibition: Thursday, March 22 – Sunday, March 25, 2012.  Hours: Thursday – Saturday: 9:30am-4:30pm; Sunday: 12-4pm
  • Pick up of exhibited work: Sun, March 25 – at the conclusion of the Flower Show’s closing ceremony (approx 3:45pm); or Tues, March 27; Wed, March 28; Thurs, March 29; 10am-4pm*

* A late fee of $5 per day, per piece will be charged – payable at pick-up.

- Artists submitting work for the art exhibition can also submit for the Flowers in Fashion: Lady Liberty’s Crowns call – and vice versa.

B. Flowers in Fashion: Bring Us Your Lady Liberty Crowns     

A floral design exhibition inspired by The Statue of Liberty’s iconic tiara.

  • Open to all floral-minded artists, garden club members, horticultural students, gardeners, flower arrangers, etc. Use Lady Liberty’s Crown as inspiration for an artistically designed headpiece.
  • All designs must be handcrafted using natural live/dried materials. One entry per individual, size must not exceed (14”X14”X14”).  The Attleboro Arts Museum will provide you with a styrofoam head to use as a base.
  • There is no entry fee for this exhibition, however all submissions are required to be refreshed as needed for the duration of the show (4 days).  All work must comply with these specifications.  No exceptions.
  • All Flowers in Fashion entries will be showcased in the Flower Show’s Star Spangled Diner & Gallery during the Flower Show.  Each participant will receive a Recognition Award from the Flower Show Exhibition Committee.
  • To participate, email smott@mac.com or call 508-222-2644 x13 no later than March 1st with your name, contact info, title of your Lady Liberty Crown – and to arrange to pick up your styrofoam head (use of this item is required by all).

On the Threshold – A National Juried Exhibition

Looking in or out of your door … interiors, vistas, transitions … open to all mediums and concepts that communicate your literal or emotional views of “On the Threshold.”

On display at the Attleboro Arts Museum from July 14–Aug 10, 2012. Six juror’s prizes of $100 each will be awarded.

 


CD Entry Deadline: By May 12th, 2012

Hand-delivered Entry Deadline: May 18th or 19th, 2012

Exhibition Dates: July 14 – August 10, 2012

Opening Awards Reception: Wednesday, July 18th; 7-9pm.  Free and open to all.


Entry Guidelines: All mediums & expressions of On the Threshold from US  artists will be juried. There is no size limit for 2D, however all entries (both 2D and 3D) cannot weigh more 100 lbs.


Entry fees: Each artist may submit up to 2 entries. $18 covers payment for up to 2 entries for Museum members; $25 covers up to 2 entries for non-members. All fees are non-refundable. Checks payable to Attleboro Arts Museum.


Entry Requirements: We accept CD or hand-delivered entries. Work must not have been previously exhibited at the Museum. Artists are required to provide entry fees & completed forms with submission(s).


CD Entries: Send one CD marked with the artist’s name & address, entry fees & a signed CD Entry Form by May 12th, at 3pm. Please keep a copy for your files.  Note: Email entries will not be accepted.

CD must contain: a maximum of 2 jpegs, each named with the title of the piece (example: “backyard.jpg”); a MS Word artist’s statement; a MS Word document that describes the jpegs as follows: artist’s name, address, city/state/zip, phone, email, title of piece, year created, medium, dimensions (h x w x d) and weight (no more than 100 lbs).  Jpegs must be 300 dpi and maximum 1024 pixels on the longest side.  Note: we will accept 2 views of each submission for 3D entries only. Send videos in a Quicktime compatible format on DVD.  If selected for exhibition, all video technology must be supplied by the artist.

Send the above and a signed CD Entry Form to:

NOTE: CD/DVD entries will not be returned.


Hand-delivered entries: Due May 18 or 19; 10am-3pm. The Museum is located at 86 Park St., Attleboro, MA, 02703. We cannot accept work before May 18 or after May 19.

 

Include an artist’s statement and list that describes your work as follows: artist’s name, address, city/state/zip, phone, email, title of piece, year created, medium, dimensions (h x w x d) and weight (no more than 100 lbs) – and your active email address and SASE for notification of the juror’s decision.

 

All work must be framed or gallery wrapped and ready to hang at delivery.  If accepted, your art cannot leave the Museum for framing (or other reasons) until the conclusion of the exhibition.  Packing materials must be removed from the Museum at delivery.

 

All hand-delivered work requires the following completed forms:

  1. A signed hand-delivered entry form
  2. A signed loan agreement (this one form will cover 1 or 2 submissions)
  3. Artwork ID form (attached to each piece)

Notification of Decision: Sent by either email or self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE) on or by June 1st, 2012. Your active email address and SASE must be provided when submitting your entry. No inquiries please.


Pick up of Unaccepted Hand-delivered Work: June 2, 5 or 6th; 10am-3pm.  Work left beyond June 6th will be charged a late fee of $5 per day per piece.  Late fee payable at time of late pickup. This is non-negotiable.  Thank you for your cooperation.


Delivery of All Accepted Work: To properly record and install all accepted pieces, all work originally submitted on a CD or DVD (and detailed hanging instructions, if applicable) must be delivered no sooner than June 2nd and no later than June 28th, 10am-3pm (we are closed Sun & Mon).

 

Include the following with all accepted work:

  1. A signed loan agreement (this one form will cover either 1 or 2 accepted pieces)
  2. Artwork ID form (attached to each accepted piece)
  3. A completed checklist covering the details of shipment of your work

 

Any delivered work that does not meet the standard of the juror’s decision, or is not the piece that was accepted, will not be installed and will be returned COD.

 

All work shipped to the Museum must include a $10 handling fee per piece.  Artists are also responsible for all shipping fees.  Enclose adequate postage or shipping labels for the return of shipped work.

Sales: All art sales are subject to the Museum’s commission of 30% for museum members, 40% for non-members.  Work does not need to be for sale.


Insurance: The Museum will insure all work from the date of arrival at the Museum through the stated pick-up dates.  The maximum insurance amount covers up to an artist’s value of $2500, with a $500 deductible payable by the artist.  The Museum is not responsible for loss or damage in shipping, or for insuring work left beyond the pick-up date.


Pick-up of Exhibited Work: Aug 11, 14 or 15; 10am-3pm (closed Sun & Mon). Work left beyond Aug 15th will be charged a late fee of $5 per day per piece.  Fee payable at time of late pickup. This is non-negotiable. Thank you for your cooperation.


Return of Work Shipped by the Museum: US Postal Service, UPS and    FedEx returns will be shipped by Aug 15th.  If you are within driving distance we would appreciate an in-person pick-up. You must enclose adequate postage for the return of your work and a $10 handling fee per piece.  For FedEx or UPS, send return labels or account info.  Questions: 508.222.2644 x13.
