Patterns – A National Juried Exhibition

Call for Artists: Patterns – A National Juried Exhibition

Open to all mediums, sizes & concepts that relate to, or include, a pattern. Consider zebra stripes, the family tartan, flight patterns, nautilus shell curves, quilts, breathing patterns, a strand of pearls, dress patterns, kaleidoscopes, waffle irons, wallpaper … Patterns will be on display at the Attleboro Arts Museum from June 22–July 22, 2016. Six prizes of $100 each will be awarded.

Entry Guidelines: All mediums & interpretations of Patterns from US artists will be juried. There is no size limit for 2D, however all entries (both 2D & 3D) cannot weigh more than 100 lbs each.

Entry fees: Each artist may submit up to 2 entries. $18 covers payment for up to 2 entries for Museum members; $25 covers up to 2 entries for non-members. All fees are non-refundable. Make checks payable to Attleboro Arts Museum.

Entry Requirements: We accept files on a CD or pen drive, or hand-delivered entries. Work must not have been previously exhibited at the Attleboro Arts Museum at any time. Artists are required to provide entry fees & completed forms with submission(s).

CD or Pen Drive Entries: Send one CD or pen drive marked with the artist’s name/address/email; entry fees; and CD entry form, by May 13th at 3pm. Email entries will not be accepted.

Your CD or pen drive must include a maximum of 2 jpegs, each named with the title of the piece (example: “basketweave.jpg”); a MS Word file of your artist’s statement that relates to your Patterns submissions; a MS Word file that describes the jpegs as follows: artist’s name, address, city/state/zip, phone, email, title of piece, year created, medium, dimensions (w x h x d), weight (no more than 100 lbs) and specs for installation works. Jpegs must be 300 dpi and maximum 1024 pixels on the longest side. Note: we will accept 2 views of each submission for 3D & installation entries only. Send videos in a Quicktime format on DVD. If selected, all video technology must be supplied by the artist.

Download and complete a Patterns CD Entry Form and submit with your CD or pen drive.

Send to: Attleboro Arts Museum, Attn: Patterns, 86 Park St., Attleboro, MA, 02703 by May 13th, at 3pm. Note: CD/pen drive/DVDs will not be returned.

Hand-delivered entries: Due May 20th or 21st; 10am-3pm to 86 Park St., Attleboro, MA, 02703. We cannot accept work before May 20th or after May 21st. Include a hardcopy artist’s statement that relates to your Patterns submission(s) and a list that describes your work as follows: artist’s name, address, city/state/zip, phone, email, title of piece, year created, medium, dimensions (w x h x d), weight (no more than 100 lbs) and specs for installation works. All work must be framed, gallery-wrapped or finished on the edges and ready to hang at delivery with a sturdy wire hanging system. We recommend neutral frames and white or off-white mats. Videos must be submitted with technology for viewing. If accepted, your art cannot leave the Museum for framing (or other reasons) until the conclusion of the exhibition. Packing materials must be removed at delivery.

Download and complete a Patterns loan agreement and  Patterns Artwork ID Form and submit with your artwork. Also be sure to bring in your artist’s statement as it relates to your submission(s) and the aforementioned list that describes your work.

Notification of Decision: All accepted works will be posted by May 31, 2016 on the Museum’s website: www.attleboroartsmuseum.org. Please no telephone or email inquiries.

Pick up of Unaccepted Hand-delivered Work: June 2nd, 3rd or June 4th; 10am-3pm. Work left beyond June 4th will be charged a late fee of $5 per day per piece. Late fee payable at time of late pickup. Thank you for your cooperation.

Delivery of All Accepted Work: To properly record and install all accepted pieces, all work (and detailed hanging instructions, if applicable) must be delivered no later than June 10th, by 3pm (we are closed Sun & Mon). Mark work with your name, address, city/state/zip, phone, email, title of piece, dimensions (w x h x d) or weight (no more than 100 lbs) and sale price (if applicable). Forms with this data are available at attleboroartsmuseum.org – visit Patterns. All work must be framed, gallery-wrapped or finished on the edges and ready to hang at delivery with a sturdy wire hanging system. We recommend neutral frames and white or off-white mats. Any delivered work that does not meet the standard of the juror’s decision, or is not the piece that was accepted, will not be installed and will be returned COD.

All shipped work must include a $10 handling fee per piece. Artists are also responsible for all shipping fees. Enclose pre-paid shipping labels (that also covers the shipping vendor’s pick-up fee) for the return of shipped work. Send to: Attleboro Arts Museum, Patterns, 86 Park St., Attleboro, MA, 02703. Fees are non-refundable. Checks payable to Attleboro Arts Museum.

Sales: All art sales are subject to the Museum’s commission of 30% for Museum members, 40% for non-members. Work does not need to be for sale.

Insurance: The Attleboro Arts Museum will insure all work from the date of arrival at the Museum through the stated pick-up dates. The maximum insurance amount covers up to an artist’s value of $2000, with a $500 deductible payable by the artist. The Museum is not responsible for loss or damage in shipping, or for insuring art left beyond the final pick-up date.

Pick-up of Exhibited Work: July 22nd from 5-6pm & July 23rd; 10am-3pm. Work left beyond July 23rd at 3pm will be charged $5 per day per piece, payable at late pickup.

Return of Work–Shipped by the Museum: All work will be shipped out by July 26th. You must enclose pre-paid shipping labels for the return of your work (that also covers the shipping vendor’s pick-up fee) and a $10 handling fee per piece.
