Exhibition
Civil War Memorabilia: Items of Historical Distinction from the Attleboro Arts Museum’s Permanent Collection
In honor of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, the Museum will display military antiques – from and related to – the Civil War. This permanent collection exhibition will be open to the public as of February 23rd and run through March 10th, 2012. Featured items will include swords, rifles, field gear, buttons and other military items. Every exhibition object, from artfully engraved medals to a battle-scarred canteen, was donated to the Museum during its early days by an area resident. These pieces of history will offer Museum visitors a connection to a person, time, or event related to the Civil War.
Benefit Concert

She performed at the White House in 1997 to celebrate Burns’ Lewis and Clark series and also at the Smithsonian in 2000 commemorate its exhibition on the Presidency.
Tickets pricing: $10 for Museum members; $12 for non-members. Concert proceeds will benefit the care and maintenance of the Museum’s permanent collection. Support the Arts!
During 2011 the Attleboro Arts Museum has continued its steady growth as a vital community asset serving a broad range of individuals and groups. We have succeeded in this important work largely through the generous gifts of our supporters.
Our annual Benefit Art Auction on November 5th provided a splendid evening that brought together the varied components of our lively institution for our biggest fund raising event of the year. Yet, the general economic climate continues to limit our ability to raise operating revenue, thus we hope that you will consider making a donation to the Museum’s Holiday Fund before the end of the year.
Yes, I want to support the Attleboro Arts Museum!

Our accomplishments this year include:
- Art classes for children and adults taught by our talented and dedicated teachers have enjoyed increased enrollment;
- Our exhibits displayed inspiring art work from local, regional and national artists;
- Our exceptionally skilled and motivated profession staff continues to serve the Museum’s mission proficiently;
- Extensive physical improvements to the Museum building have been completed;
- We are in the process of organizing our second exhibition from our permanent collection and are continuing to catalogue the diverse collections of the Museum;
- The Museum either sponsored or partnered to produce popular special events such as the Flower Show, the Art Lovers Book Club, the Expo for the Senses, and the Winter Night Festival all eagerly anticipated community happenings; and
- The Museum continues to provide space and cooperation for numerous valuable local groups including Attleboro Land Trust, Triboro Youth Theater, and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Committee of Greater Attleboro.
Additionally, we all have the immeasurable benefits of a friendly cultural institution that promotes creativity and personal growth for everyone through the arts.
We recognize with deep appreciation that contributions from our supporters over the years have enabled the Attleboro Arts Museum to thrive. Yet the serious financial challenges remain, including an outstanding debt of $67,000 for the cost of repairing damage to art studios and vital storage space caused by the spring 2010 flood.
We ask you to be as generous as you can. Remember that you can see firsthand the product of your donation anytime by simply walking into the building and observing the remarkable art and the on-going buzz of activity at our beloved Museum.
