1. Social Media/Administrative Assistant

  • Full-time Position
  • Hours: Tuesday – Saturday, 9:30am – 5:30pm

Summary of Position:

The Attleboro Arts Museum’s Social Media/Administrative Assistant provides support to the Executive Director, Museum staff and interacts frequently with Museum artists, educators, visitors, volunteers, vendors and trustees.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required with a minimum of 2 years working experience. Our Social Media/Administrative Assistant should possess a strong customer service background; have a solid command of varied social media channels; be known for their mastery of details; remain unflappable under pressure; enjoy a fast-paced workplace; and gain inspiration from a Museum’s creative environment.

Essential Functions:

  • Working on a Macintosh platform, the Social Media/Administrative Assistant:
    • Provides a wide range of technical and administrative support to Attleboro Arts Museum staff and Trustees
    • Supports and/or develops:
      • Museum social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram & Youtube)
      • FileMaker database
      • Multi-media projects
    • Ensures Museum social media campaigns follow best practices and conform to current and emerging standards
    • Updates Museum social media with approved content and graphics
    • Creates a framework for timely online media listings and submits frequent online postings for events, calls for artists, art classes, etc.
    • Researches and recommends general technology upgrades and/or replacements
    • Advises staff on technology and database use
    • Troubleshoots and assists guest lecturers on presentation technology issues
  • Tracks active/expiring memberships, issues reminder alerts upon expiration
  • Processes data entry for gift shop inventory using point-of-sale system
  • Assists with safe handling of artwork
  • Administer online bidding site for Museum’s benefit art auction
  • Assists with Museum School registrations (online and in-person), class enrollment reports, and payments
  • Supports assorted Museum volunteer programs
  • Serves as receptionist at front desk, greeting all visitors, monitoring Museum security surveillance systems and reception areas
  • Professionally interacts with Museum guests, artists, trustees, vendors, community members, volunteers
  • Consistently maintains professional telephone skills using a pleasant and helpful manner, and taking complete and accurate messages
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of systems support in a Mac environment and willingness to research/learn new technologies
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite; web analytics
  • Access to a vehicle during all working hours and occasional after-hour events, a valid driver’s license and flexibility to run periodic errands to support Museum administration
  • Live within 15-20 miles of Attleboro, MA
  • Willingness and ability to lift at least 50 lbs. and organize/clean spaces for frequent meetings, events, art classes and storage of artwork
  • Can operate Museum facilities systems: elevator, approved security devices, other. A roll-up-your-sleeves attitude.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to develop clear and concise messages
  • Ability to prioritize and stay organized is critical
  • Affinity and respect for the visual arts required
  • Willingness to assist with preparation of hospitality for opening receptions and events
  • Flexibility to run local errands to support Museum administration

  • Photography experience a plus

Technology

  • MUST be experienced on a Mac platform and have a command of Filemaker, Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Adobe Photoshop and Acrobat
  • Possess a comfort level with all forms of technology and a willingness to learn new tech as required
  • Able to troubleshoot with co-workers to help solve tech issues

Standard Hours: Tuesday – Saturday, 9:30am – 5:30pm

  • Position includes occasional evening and weekend (Sunday & Monday) hours to cover Museum programs, special events and the completion of time sensitive projects

2. Art Teacher

Select part-time teaching positions are available at our W. Charles Thompson Museum School.
